[The video feed opens on a boy sitting on a bench. It looks like the sun is setting already, so either someone got a late start today or this boy only just learned how to use the 'Gear. The boy isn't really all that remarkable, outside of a very serious expression. The background appears to be New Bark Town, so get ready for some of those New Trainer Questions.]

Hello. I was told I should talk to this device to get some answers about this place.

[He rests his hands on his knees and leans forward, still staring the device down.]

Why are there houses on the surface?

[...Well apparently we're just going to get straight to the point today.]

It should be dangerous for anyone to live up here.

[He's silent for a long time, still staring at the device like it's going to magically give him some answers. A beep comes from the 'Gear which seems to startle him a little.]

I also want to know about the creature that came out of this. [Rossiu holds up a Pokéball.] It was pink and blue and immediately went into this strange device. It won't come out.

[That doesn't seem to bother him all that much, actually. His very serious expression hasn't shifted at all. After another few seconds of silence, Rossiu glances upward at the snow still falling.]

Finally, what is this? I've never seen anything like this before. It's much colder than it is back home.

[At least he's dressed a bit better for the snow than most of his friends...]

[He figures that if the rest of Team Gurren are here they'll get in contact with him. With that, Rossiu gets up from the bench and leaves and the 'Gear turns off.]

It's the language that I speak, but here everyone can understand each other without a problem.

Oh, I see. I appreciate the respect. Ah, should I be calling you by something else? I don't mean to be disrespectful.

Oh, no. I really don't mind it all that much...usually people where I am from call me Fujisaki, but you can call me Chihiro, too.

[First name basis will never not be a little strange coming from someone you don't know very well, but Chihiro would answer to either without a problem.]

Oh, okay. Is Fujisaki the name of the village you're from?

...The village?

[Okay you actually lost him that time.]

Well, your second name is your village's name, correct? Adai is the name of my village, but it's used as a second name to identify me, if someone else had the same name as me, that is.

[He shakes his head, slightly.]

Mm, no. My second name is my Father's name, not the name of a village.

[adai]

Oh. I see. Things are done differently where you're from, then? That's very interesting. It looks like I have a lot to learn about... well, everything.

Things are done differently in a lot of places, I have learned. A lot of people here come from the same type of place...but the version of that place isn't always the same, necessarily.

[adai]

Ah, really? I wonder if there's anyone else here from my world, or even a different version of my world.

[codeforhope]

It is possible. I have been here for almost a year now, but there are still people I don't know. It is also very possible that they will show up one day, if they aren't already here.

[adai]

A year? Are people always here for that long?

[codeforhope]

A year is nothing compared to most. Some of my classmates have been here for nearly two years or more...and I know someone else who has been here for four.

[adai]

Four years... Time is frozen back home, so even if I'm here for that long it should be okay but... I'd feel bad leaving them for that long.

[It seems like a silly thing to think about right now and Rossiu shakes his head.]

Forgive me, that was unnecessary. If I'm here that long then I'll make the best of it.

It's okay. It's understandable that you would feel that way.

[He considers himself very lucky to have so many of his classmates here, after all.]

That is a good way to think of it, though. This world is...a lot safer than most. That makes it easier to start a new life here, for some.

[adai]

I'm sure there are many people who have it worse than me, but personally, I'm not sure about starting a new life here.

[He frowns for a moment, clearly thinking it over.]

...Though I suppose I can't just wait to go home either.

[He nods, brushing his bangs from his eyes.]

Yes, that is the problem...you can't predict when you may go back home, so waiting for it to happen isn't really much of an option, I'm afraid.

[adai]

I guess I'll just have to adapt to life here.

[He's done it once before and this strange new world is just as bizarre as the surface world was to him.]
