They're all incredibly simple and have more pictures than words, but the topic seems to be Eevees and their evolutions. The Pokémon in question is sleeping sprawled on top of some of the books.]

Hello. I have a question for you. I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times before, but what should I evolve my Eevee into?

[Rossiu picks up one of the books, flipping the pages absently as he thinks.]

I already have the following types: Psychic, Ice, Fire, Grass, and Fairy. That leaves Umbreon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon. I suppose I could keep him as an Eevee, but I'm not sure what the advantages to that would be.

[He finally looks back up at the 'Gear, his expression still far too serious for this conversation.]

I'd like to hear about your experiences with Eevees and their evolved forms as well. While I would prefer to evolve him into a type I don't have, I'm not opposed to going with something else.

Oh, and I have another question. Does anyone know why Eevee has so many different evolution choices? I thought all Pokémon had one path of evolution.

Not all pokemon have one path of evolution. Many others evolve differently, if you use stones on them or the conditions are right. Kirlia, for example, can evolve into either Gardevoir or Gallade.

I think the choice should also lie with your eevee and what he wants. These pokemon are living creatures, after all, and it's unfair to force them to be something they don't want to be.

I don't think it can happen to too many other species, but it's not extremely rare. Eevee is a special case mainly due to how many different evolutions it has, and the various conditions surrounding each one.

[She's lucky Ymir went with one of the easier evolutions... it would have been a bit of a hassle to backtrack to Goldenrod City just to get one of the stones to help him evolve...]

That's good! Just make sure to give him some time... it's always possible they might change their minds later on.

I let them decide what they want to be. Well, except Chiisai, the Umbreon, here. He's from a trainer that left. Himiko as a Sylveon is super sweet. She can tell my moods with her ribbons~

You should show him the options, and let him make the choice!

I should have mentioned that I've already talked to him about it. He didn't have any preference, but I'll talk to him again once I make up my mind to make sure he's fine with it.

Ah, is that one of those "shiny" Pokémon I've heard about? I've never seen one before.

This is Jin. His trainer left, so he's been pretty depressed. He's not my only shiny. I've got a shniy Beautifly from another trainer who left, and she's so different from a regular Beautifly!

They're okay, it just means that they change more easily than normal. So that's why they can transform more.

I see. I'm glad it's not something bad, though I'm curious why it seems like they're the only ones. Even if there are other Pokémon with different evolution paths, they don't have this many options, right?

Jolteon is definitely the best choice outta those, in my opinion. But I think they're all great n' got their own advantages in one way or another! Sylveon's really cool, too, but you already said you got a Fairy type.

[Jolteon and Sylveon are the only two Eveelutions Jimmy actually owns, but he does like them a lot.]

But I think it's really best to let your Eevee decide! Solstice had a bit of a hard time picking what she wanted to be, but the wait was worth it. She's really happy with what she is, now.

Can you tell me more about Jolteon? What sorts of moves does it learn and what's it like in battle?

Well, Jolteon's the Electric-type! It knows a lot of electric type moves, but it can also learn other ones like Pin Missle and Double Kick. I'd say they're prolly the fastest out of them all, too.

I actually brought my Jolteon, Solstice, to my last gym battle. She was so fast when she attacked that you could barely see her! And she ended up knocking out Whitney's Miltank with no problem at all!

Oh, so they're very fast... That's interesting. I don't have an Electric-type and I'm not sure where to get one, so that might be a good choice. Ah, but I need to get a stone and they don't sell them here in Violet. I'll definitely keep your suggestion in mind though, thank you!

As to why they have been blessed with seemingly infinite potential, who can say? I believe it is far more of a mystery than any being here can solve, with the exception of one such as I.

But to answer your original question, I would indeed suggest an Umbreon, if you truly feel that you are capable of surviving any attempt to raise such a terrifying creature.

Ahh, if it were me, I'd let yours decide what to evolve into for itself. I mean, it seems kinda cruel to force it to be something it doesn't want to, right?

Oh, yeah, they're all pretty cute, but Eevee is the cutest. You could totally train one to be really tough, too, if you worked at it! No one would expect a cutiepie like that to be such a powerhouse, right?
